Abstract

Saleem Khan Gimmi was in real terms a soldier on march which is what his name means. He was a well known Novelist, Fictionist, Travelogue writer, Folk lorist, Literary historian, Researcher, Linguistician, Broadcaster, T.V & Radio play writer of Punjabi and Urdu. He is considered the pioneer in Pakistani Punjabi Travelogue Literature. His first travelogue "Dais Perdais" is the 2nd in this genre in Pakistan. It is a comprehensive and critical study of his experience, culture, landscape and its pictorial quality of England during his training as Radio Producer there. Second travelogue by Gimmi is "Siachen Di Chaanwain" which explores the language, geography, landscape, culture, traditions, behaviour of the native people. He also dilates upon the hardships he faced with bravery and courage during his stay at the radio station of Sakardu. Both the travelogues are related to his travels during his job in Radio Pakistan.  In this article the researcher has made an effort to go analytically through both the Travelogues and bring their salient characteristics to the light besides exploring the different aspects of life and career of their writer,Saleem Khan Gimmi.
