This research aims to study the poetry of the seraiki author Riffat Abbas by using the lens of social feminism with a special reference to Beauvior's approach towards female identity. The anylysis shows that his poetry embraces women as human beings with equal rights and aspirations. He has portrayed major folk lore female characters such as saasi, Heer, and sohni as symbols of respect, resistance and champions of equal human rights who were actually struggling against the orthodox notions of honour and gender discrimination. Riffat provides his readers with an alternate endings to the stories where instead of celebrating the deaths/murders of these women in love, he suggests taking the culprits behind their demises to court and have them punshid, thus presenting a new social feminist critique of gender performative to conclude that Riffat's poetry is celebratory of female identity as much more than just a symbol of beauty,honour and sacrifice.He believes in active struggling aimed at wresting the power away from the patriarchal communities.They have come to represent, with wisdome,peace and love at their disposal.
